The M4 was born form the M16 program that saw its first use back in the Vietnam War era. Born from the CAR-15 family Colt took the complaints form those weapons and started the development of a gun called the XM4 and in 1984 the first one was made and the following year it was tested. After a few more years, in 1991, the XM4 received a few more refinements such as the shell deflector and shed the "X" in its name and became the M4. Finally in 1994 the gun was adopted by the U.S. Military to replace the M16A2 in certain roles, becoming one of the most iconic guns in modern history.

Tokyo Marui has taken its time before when considering product Development and with their MWS M4s its no different. The guns are gas efficient and the felt recoil is not overt where it becomes a distraction. This classic M4A1, like the MWS is powered by their Z system which offers optimal performance.

It's been two years since Marui unveiled their M4 GBBR and now it's finally here, available for the rest of the world to grasp. Tokyo Marui are known for innovating and pushing the limits. Since it's took them such a long time to release a GBBR version of an M4, it better be good. And yes, it really is!

One would think that holding it for the first time would be light and flimsy, but it isn't. It's just as heavy as its competitors and its finish is far more beautiful. For instance, you have the cerakote finish which leaves a fine texture on the receiver. It looks pristine and untouched. That will all change once you buy it and take it the field.

Since it is a Marui product, we do urge you to use HFC134A gas as it will consistently shoot around 280 fps (just below the legal limit of Japan) consistently. The low powered gas doesn't give it the most satisfying kick, but it is pleasantly surprising nevertheless. Full auto feels solid with hardly any signs of immediate cooldown.

So why did Tokyo Marui take so long? This is because they wanted to perfect, make sure there are no flaws. They saw the weaknesses of previous M4 GBBRs and they decided to work on the weakest point, the bolt carrier. It uses the ZET system which ensures the safety and longevity of the bolt carrier, making sure it will last a very long time. Tokyo Marui stressed test the bolt lock for over 10,000 times to prove how durable the ZET system is. The internals are all propriety but we can assure you that there will be upgrade parts in the near future.

As a Tokyo Marui AEG this model is held to the very highest standards of quality control. Mostly polymer with some metal components, this AEG is also very light and with its compact 46 cm length making it a very controllable weapon.

Tokyo Marui high cycle series AEG it sports a very high cyclical rate even with the most modest batteries. Its power is a low-level 250 FPS making this weapon very appropriate for indoor and short range engagements. With this rate of fire, anything much higher than 250 fps would be very unpleasant anyway; to say the least. This model comes with a 190 round high capacity M4 magazine.

This Marui M4 Patriot High Cycle Series looks no different than the tried and true standard series M4, however its internals have been given a complete make-over by Marui.
